Our Mission
The Oregon Junior Shorthorn Association (OJSA) is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and empowering youth throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. So, whether or not you own cattle, we want you to become active participants in agriculture, leadership, and livestock promotion. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment where every young person can grow, belong, and make a difference.
Our Purpose
OJSA exists to:
🔹 Promote the Shorthorn breed while providing meaningful experiences to all youth, regardless of cattle ownership.
🔹 Offer diverse opportunities for involvement beyond the show ring, including fundraising, marketing, social media, event planning, graphic design, public relations, and agriculture promotion.
🔹 Encourage connections and friendships among junior members, breeders, and mentors across Oregon and the greater Pacific Northwest.
🔹 Develop life and career skills through hands-on activities and leadership opportunities that prepare members for future roles in agriculture and beyond.
🔹 Create community-minded leaders who understand the value of teamwork, service, and representing their agricultural roots with pride.
🔹 Celebrate inclusivity by ensuring that everyone, from showman to storyteller, designer to data-lover, has a place to contribute, lead, and thrive.
Whether you're in the show barn, behind a camera, working a sponsor table, or designing a flyer, OJSA offers something for everyone. Join us as we build a stronger, more connected agricultural future together.
